Medics saved the life of a Dayton man's who'd overdosed on heroin, and instead of going to the hospital, he said he'd rather stay and play a video game, according to a Dayton police report.

Police were called to 333 Gunckel Ave. for an overdose on Thursday about 6 p.m. The officer said when he arrived, Medic 15 was administering the drug Narcan, which reverses the effects of heroin.

Lerone McKenzie, 35, regained consciousness on his mother's couch. The medics asked him if he wanted to go to the hospital for treatment, but he refused, stating he was ok and he was about to play basketball on his Playstation.

The medic advised McKenzie that the Narcan would wear off and he could possibly begin overdosing again and die. The man refused again and signed a form for his refusal.

He was not charged at that time for any drug offense.
