In 1979 verscheen Walter Hill's Cult klassieker The Warriors, die het verhaal vertelde van een straat bende die zich een weg naar huis probeerde te vechten in een nachtelijk en vooral vijandelijk New York. De film is altijd populair gebleven door dat het een donkere fantasie was die ook goed tot zijn recht kwam in Comics en Rockstars legendarisch video game (sinds gisteren in de PlayStore voor de PlayStation 4) die zoveel meer aan het verhaal toevoegde. Gisteren werd bekend dat Joe en Anthony Russo (die Captain America: Civil War regisseerde) nu plannen hebben om van de film een TV serie te maken die via Hulu te zien zou moeten zijn.

Joe and Anthony Russo are taking a breather from the Marvel world to adapt cult-classic film The Warriors as a one-hour drama with Paramount TV and Hulu. The brothers will reimagine Walter Hill's iconic 1979 film, itself an adaptation of Sol Yurick's classic novel. Their take will honor the original film while adding its own unique brand of grit, pulp, sex and violence. The Russo brothers will team with writer Frank Baldwin on the series. The Russo brothers will direct the pilot, although no word yet as to any directing commitment beyond that.
